This is a long overdue review, but felt it was very much needed. Visited this shop on a whim with a friend of mine and so glad we did. I'm a trans girlie and sometime browsing clothing can be a little intimidating. The man working there, I believe the owner, was so nice and welcoming. I found this cute little floral print red and black dress, which fit me like a glove! Overall, the store had a beautifully queer vintage vibe and I can't wait to return soon, now that the weather is warming up :)

At Backward Glances, I felt like I was transported back in time. They have quality vintage items that are stocked every week! It was a lot of fun browsing the store; you never know what treasures you can stumble upon. I bought a vintage jean jacket with silver embroidery and sequins; it was in mint condition. I also found 80s banana hair clips, which is awesome, because the modern ones are just not the same. Great prices, great selection, great service. I will certainly be back!

I need everyone to understand how much I love this store and how much I love their house candles. Flowers On Your Grave by Father Evil smells so unbelievably good. I love giving their candles away as housewarming gifts and to learn that the owners make the candles themselves just makes me even happier. I know we live in a time where online shopping can get you candles in less than 24 hours, but there’s something special when you burn candles from Luxe & Shadows. Plus the throw on the fragrance covers the entire room, not just the little area around the flame. I cannot wait to go back.

Do you know who Father Evil is? Are you a fan of horror and vintage stuff? You need to check out Lou and his awesome shop. I can't recommend this place enough. Its yet another hidden gem Asbury Park has. Go support a really cool shop! You won't be disappointed.
