BBBS has no respect for the adults looking to volunteer their love and time to children. They will ask you to spend months jumping through hoops to become part of their program when they know they have no children on their list to match you with. Please spend your time with a volunteer program that appreciates you.
As a fellow resident of Northern New Jersey, I can relate to the frustrations you experienced with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern and Coastal New Jersey. In my personal journey, I was assigned an alarming number of case managers—around 5 or 6—in just a span of two years. This high turnover of case managers not only disrupted the continuity of support, but it also left me feeling uncertain and overlooked. If consistency and reliability are important to you, it might be wise to explore alternative mentorship programs that prioritize long-term commitment and provide stable support systems.
